Gracie Jiu-Jitsu

A kid-friendly version of our Gracie Jiu-Jitsu program for ages 5-12. This class focuses mainly on anti-bullying techniques and will teach your child how to properly defend themselves if they are ever put into a harmful situation, or better yet how to avoid a confrontation altogether. The Jiu-Jitsu programs offered by the Foley schools are affiliated with the Pedro Sauer Association of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Years of teaching children of all ages has taught us that the number one priority of every class that kids take part in is to make sure they have fun. Your child will take much more out of a single class if they get a chance to laugh and enjoy it, which is why our Junior Jiu-Jitsu program is fun based and teaches different techniques by using games and other enjoyable activities your child will love, while instilling confidence, discipline and a general knowledge of self-defense as they progress through this program.

The newest addition to our Martial Arts programs, and the fastest growing in popularity. The Foley family teamed up with the legendary Pedro Sauer (an 8th Degree Red/Black Belt) and his association of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to bring Newfoundland the ultimate Jiu-Jitsu experience. This art will teach that even a small individual can easily defend themselves against someone much larger using leverage and different technique. The program features different grappling methods along with submissions and joint manipulations. Jiu-Jitsu is thoroughly enjoyed by both men, women and children.

Pedro Sauer earned his Black Belt in 1985 under the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Helio Gracie, and his son Rickson Gracie. Pedro has several affiliated schools throughout the world and currently resides in Virginia where he works with different Military groups including the Marines and Navy SEALS. Professor Sauer travels to Newfoundland regularly to hold seminars, train with association members and for belt testing. Pedro is without a doubt one of the finest instructors in the world.

Alex and his brothers currently hold the rank of Blue Belt under Master Sauer and his association. The Foley men immensely enjoy the experience of learning the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and passing it on to their students, and are honored to represent Pedro Sauer here in this province. They plan to continue on with the sport and remain on the path to becoming a black belt in Gracie Jiu–Jitsu.
